I am sure it's still uncomfortable with the brace as well, I didn't sleep for more than 2 hours straight when I had my cast, it was the worse!

The only copy that I got which I had to sign a waiver for was the actual MRI report, the actual images are emailed I think and I am sure if you ask them they should send you a copy, if not just ask the doctor.

Sleeping like that didn't work at all with my cast, and I woke up a few times during the night because of it. Heck, I still wake up a few times a night because the brace is uncomfortable to sleep on. Heh.

And yeah, if/when I get my MRI done, the doctor is sending me to a place that only does MRI's and scans, even though his office is at the hospital. So that's nice. And if the MRI is digital instead of a hard copy, I'm going to ask for a copy myself. I'd wondered, how do they get the MRI to the doctor if they do it at a different place? It's got to be expensive to have curriers take it to his office, even if by post or UPS. Then my mom-in-law said, "They probably email it. They do everything digital these days."

Well heck, if they can email it to the doc, they can cc me that MRI as well, right? I mean, it's MY wrist... Why wouldn't they?

I want a copy in part because I'm fascinated by it all, but also to post a pic of it on my blog.

I know! There was no way I would be able to last that long, the 6 weeks I had mine was more than enough!
I think therapy has helped a little with the range of motion but not so much with the pain. My wrist area feels like it's on fire at times, I can barely lift anything and even writing and typing are painful. It's really frustrating and want this all to be over as I am sure you do as well. I feel though that the doctors response to any issue is surgery surgery which bothers me a little. The MRI should take 3 days or so to get approved, you have to stay on top of the doctors office for them to hound the insurance company. Make sure you go to a place that specializes in MRI and xrays instead of at a hospital, this is just from my own experience.
HAHA, you are freaking yourself out a bit but you are on top of things and the best you can do it ask questions and get answers, you have to be pushy and demand results! I get detailed bills from my insurance and I am amazed at how much simple things like getting a cast cost. I am waiting to hear back from my insurance because I got a bill from the MRI place when I shouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket, ugh it's just never ending!
Awww, how cute you sleep with you're hands tucked under, how did that work with the cast?LOL
I have an orthodontist appointment today and I am losing it, I am turning 30 tomorrow and feel like I am falling apart! I don't want braces at 30!

THREE months in a long arm cast?? Oy vey, I would have laughed at the woman. Do you see these FIVE kids I got?!? I barely survived ONE month! :P

And ever since I've been out of my cast (since Feb 8th, three weeks ago), my elbow still hurts. Not to bend. Now, I can bend every which way. It's when I pick up weight at a certain angle, right at the outside of my elbow, where the point is, near the little channel the ulnar nerve (funny bone) runs through.

I don't know if this is a side effect of being 35 and casted for 4 weeks (3 weeks later) or if this is a new pain that's presented itself due to the pain in my wrist.

I'm still waiting on my MRI - called the doc today only to be told they hadn't faxed the paperwork to my insurance yet. I'd come in late on Thursday, the nurse that does it doesn't work on Fridays, so Monday is the first time they could do it, so, it was sent today. Max wait time is 5 to 7 working days, so not too bad (I guess).

My doctor told me my negative ulnar variance happened after I fell off my bike as a kid. My bone didn't heal right, he said, and thus, it's too short. But I gotta wonder. IF my TFCC has a bad tear, is it possible my ulna dislocated a bit? And if that's so, it might explain why my pain is evolving and becoming worse, because the bones in my wrist are migrating just a bit. (Or the negative variance is putting more stress on the lunate.) Due to this "subluxation", is it possible it would also make my elbow a bit wonky?

I know, I know, freaking myself out and I haven't even had an MRI. Calm down, Becka! But when you don't know, you think of all these doomsday scenarios. :P Especially me, storyteller that I am. Heheheh...

We shall see.

As far as my pain levels, it's hard for me to judge, because now, it's becoming the "norm". It's definitely worse if I forget my medicine. (Naproxen and Tylenol). I can go for longer stretches without my splint, but after a time, I've got to put it back on and I have that AHHH moment. I do have to sleep in it since I tuck my hands under my face. :)

Well, the first option was casting which I did all ready but she would have liked a full 3 months which I doubt I would have lasted, lol. The less drastic approach is revascularization of the lunate but the problem is that it doesn't always work so do I want to go through the surgery process and find out that it didn't help? She told me another option before full removal something with fusion, we will see. How are you feeling?

David, what is your treatment? Are they going to try and re-vascularize your lunate or go for full removal?
