A young woman bought a house, and moved in without a spouse

Content was she to live in the dwelling all alone

But it was then she started hearing the ghostly cries, so soul searing

And the woman began fearing there was another in her home

Another presence wandering, wandering in her home

Yes, the woman was not alone.

She caught a glimpse of him one night and he gave her such a fright

But so strikingly handsome the ghost turned out to be

It was soon after she found a diary, under the floorboards of the bowery

She sighed at the speech, so flowery, who could the author be?

Reading the pages she wondered who could the author be?

‘I am not alone’ said she.

The more the woman saw the ghost, more in the book was she engrossed

Wondering to herself if the handsome shade had it penned.

The words she read, so inspiring, about a love, never tiring

Her heart inside was firing, for a man like this her fate would send

‘Oh please’ she wished, a man like this for her, fate should send!

To not be alone, her heart would mend.

But more she read in the pages, the more she found across the ages

The author of the book saw a beautiful ghost as well

Her heart stopped as she read, for the ghost he described had her head!

He described ‘her’ instead of the ghost she saw in the hall

It was not the same handsome ghost she saw in the hall!

Was fate playing tricks after all?

And then with a trembling start, she realized in her heart of hearts

That she was in love with the handsome ghost.

Without any further ado, she read the ending of the book anew,

And realized he loved her too, loved her spirit, he did boast.

The author of the diary loved her spirit, he did boast.

Yet never could they get close.

She knew then she saw not a shade, but scenes from the past refusing to fade

Her love was not a ghost, but a man from times past

But then in some temporal shift, the fabric of time somehow was ripped

And she fell into the rift and met the man in the flesh at last.

She fell through time and met her love in the flesh at last.

‘This is not possible!’ she yelled aghast.

The man looked on in shock, trying his hardest not to balk

But there she was before him in the flesh

Were the gods playing tricks on him, giving him this lovely gem

Appearing suddenly in his home, their lives hopelessly enmeshed?

Could it be that their lives were now hopelessly enmeshed?

And could he keep her and start afresh?

The man and woman could not deny the call of their hearts cry

And made love with each other in his bed.

Again and again they explored each other, reveling in the feel of the other

Not knowing how long they had one another, their hearts filled with dread

They did not know how long they had and their hearts filled with dread

And so in desperation, they wed.

Her fears came true suddenly when, time shifted once again

And the woman was pulled back to her own time

She cried and she wailed, yet everything she tried failed

As she did not know what entailed in going back in time.

She did not know how to get back to his time.

She cursed the clock as it did chime.

But then as she lay sleeping, she heard another weeping,

And found her love, solid and real in the hall

She flew into his embrace, thanking the gods there on the staircase

Kissing him all over his face as he pressed her against the wall.

Yes, they made love there together against the wall.

And she was not alone after all.

They knew not how it had happened, but they weren’t taking any chances

And they left that quaint old house behind

The woman had her ghostly love, the man thanked the gods above

Their happiness soared like two white doves, their lives forever entwined.

Yes, the man and the woman were now forever entwined.

Their love, time itself could not unbind.

The End.
